The Union of African States (French: Union des Etats africains) was a short lived confederation made up of African nations of Ghana, Guinea, and Mali. The main objective of the confederation was to establish a new nation of West African states (regardless of their colonial history). These hopes were never finalized and the organization ultimately fell apart over Cold War ties.
