Samuel actually gained the upper hand and as he lunged for the killing blow, Palpatine, using the force, leapt to his imperial shuttle that flew over them to rescue Palpatine. Samuel, with the help of Nautolo Fisto, dueled Palpatine on the Death Star, where Nautolo killed Palpatine. He would die many years later from old age after training his final padawan, Dipika Billaba, niece
