He worked on Lenny Bruce's Thank You Mask Man, the Heavy Metal segment "B-17", What Have We Learned, Charlie Brown?, and Fitness and Me: Why Exercise?, as well as episodes of The Flintstone Comedy Show, The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show, G.I. Joe, The Transformers, Muppet Babies, and Sesame Street. He also appeared in the Star Wars parody Hardware Wars as Augie "Ben" Doggie.

Hale produced many animated inserts for Sesame Street, including the Pinball Number Count, Typewriter, and Ringmaster series. He later served as an animation director for Marvel Productions, working on Muppet Babies, Little Muppet Monsters, and other series.
