The RG450 was offered as a more affordable alternative for the RG550. The Japanese models still featured Ibanez American Designed pickups, a rosewood fingerboard and an Edge tremolo not unlike (early) RG550 models, but had a beefier standard neck joint and a square jackplate. The 1992–1993 RG450 is the first guitar model to be known under that model name, that was reused for two other models: a Korean made model that replaced the fist one in 1994 and a limited production run model from 2009.
