Ananya Mar was born in a small colony on Felucia. Her Zabrak mother and Human father were force sensitives, but never pursued training as either Sith or Jedi due to falling in love and knowing that joining either faction could cause problems with their relationship. After settling on Felucia, they had their daughter Ananya. Ananya was, like her parents, gifted in the force. Her parents could sense it and refused to give her up when a Jedi came seeking her. Her Zabrak mother and Human father were force sensitives, but never pursued training as either Sith or Jedi due to falling in love and knowing that joining either faction could cause problems with their relationship. After settling on Felucia, they had their daughter Ananya. Ananya was, like her parents, gifted in the force. Her parents could sense it and refused to give her up when a Jedi came seeking her. The Jedi left her alone when they found how much her parents disliked the idea of putting their daughter through the dangerous life of a Jedi. They were devoted toward keeping her safe and wanted her to have a peaceful life in their colony. That peacefulness ended when a Sith came to the colony on Felucia and killed Ananya's parents in their home and stole her away to train her in the dark side of the force. Ananya was tortured and beaten to break her and turn her to the dark side. This treatment continued until one day aboard the Sith's personal ship, she managed to grab the Sith's lightsaber when he wasn't paying her any attention and killed him. She boarded a space station and smuggled herself from ship to ship in an effort to survive, but was discovered months later after surviving on her own and was sold into slavery. There, she killed her masters and was taken captive by another slaver who knew what her true talent was.
