The Elendili (Q."Elf-friends", "Star-friends" or "Followers of Elendil" A."Nimruzîrim") were the Faithful faction among the Númenóreans. For the most part they hailed from the eastern part of the island, Romenna, where many of them had been banished by King Ar-Gimilzôr. Their main leaders or spokesmen traditionally had been the Lords of Andúnië. After their last Lord, Amandil of Andúnië, had been stripped off his office by King Ar-Pharazôn, many Elendili left Númenor for the colonies in Middle-Earth, especially those close to the Elven settlements of Lindon and Edhellond, which later became the core for the realms in exile, Arnor and Gondor whose kings descended from Elendil the Tall, son of Amandil, who claimed the title of High King of the Dúnedain after the Akallabêth.
