Tails was in the Metropolis Zone, picking up a parcel to deliver to Sonic the Hedgehog, when he spotted the Tar Titan attacking the citizens (including Ray the Flying Squirrel), choking them and making them gag. The Tar Titan revelled in Tails' appearance and began to threaten the hero, but a busy Tails was far from interested. Cutting the monster off mid-sentence, Tails then nonchantly broke a fire hydrant, cannoning water into his foe. The Tar Titan went from bemoaning the hero of today to sulking in an instant, the water neutralising its foul smell.
