Klaipėda district municipality (Lithuanian: Klaipėdos rajono savivaldybė) is one of 60 municipalities in Lithuania and surrounds the port city of Klaipėda and the Port of Klaipėda. Lithuanian Christian Democrats won the local elections. Most of the Jews and Poles died here during the Holocaust. The occupieing Soviets persicuted the local Kursenieki untill the 1960's.
