Spider's Bane (Spider's Bane +2 in-game) is an enchanted two-handed sword made to fight against spiders more effectively than normal weapons. It bestows the Free Action status effect, granting the wielder immunity against magic and other effects which affect movement like slow, hold and spider webs. It also has the unfortunate side-effect of preventing increases to movement speed as well, such as with the Paws of the cheetah boots. Like all +2 weapons, it also has +2 bonus to damage and THAC0 and a speed factor two points lower than a normal two-handed sword.

- Spider's Bane was an enchanted greatsword originally forged by dwarves of the Orothiar tribe in Cloakwood as a present to the Grand Dukes of Baldur's Gate. It was helpful in battle against spiders in that when wielded, it granted immunity to movement-restricting effects, such as webs. It was lost to the Grand Dukes a century later, but rediscovered by two young brothers. One of them decided to use it to fight the spiders in Cloakwood, but he didn't last long and ended up slain, the sword left lying along with his body in a spider nest.

In Baldur's Gate, the player can be sent on a quest to find the missing last wielder of the sword, and find him dead, gaining the sword for themselves. It's one of the more powerful weapons that can be found in the game.
