Claymore Prime was the main planet of the Claymore system. It held thirty great cities, each home to over 10 million inhabitants. Each city was an independent nation, which were in a state of uneasy peace with the others. The population was divided into six castes: Nobility, Priesthood, Warrior, Merchant, Worker and Slave. It was virtually impossible to escape one's caste, except by extreme amounts of bravery in battle - thus usually barring non-Warriors from doing so. Marriage between castes used to be punished by death, but after their entry into the Confederacy, the laws was relaxed, with the couple becoming part of the higher caste, while any offspring belonged to the lower caste.

Claymore Prime was an icy world. It was covered in glaciers, and various large predators stalked the landscape. The cities of the planet was buried beneath the ice, forming extraordinarily strong defences. It was rich in minerals.
