An Entity of Type : owl:Thing, within Data Space : dbkwik.org associated with source dataset(s)

The Dour Gnomes had a dark and chaotic history, with political maneuvering that has fashioned some unlikely ventures. Those that allied with them often spent more energy trying to gauge the loyalty of the Dour Gnomes then actively gaining from such an alliance. These gnomes cannot be really considered evil in the true sense of the word, they just got such joy out of the intrigue of kingmaking that they often failed to think about what was best for themselves or what was righteous.

These gnomes built massive underground warrens where they lived by the thousands. Governed by a senate known only as The Builders, the gnomes believe in a casteless system where every gnome was equal (though some seemed to be more equal than others). They had a communal system of distributing tasks to the workers and providing the basic necessities to each based on their needs. Their elaborate education systems ensured that every gnome has 20 years of schooling beginning at the ripe age of 14 years. By the time a gnome prepared to graduate, he had been assigned his life work as a worker, soldier, or clerk. A rare few joined the ranks of the tinkers; the most prestigious position one could hold other than being part of the senate.
