Plo Koon was one of the pillars of the Jedi Order during the final days of the Old Republic. A member of the Jedi Council, the Jedi Master served the Republic honorably for decades, including in both the Stark Hyperspace Wars and the Clone Wars. Though most of his exploits are detailed elsewhere, Koon promoted a previous Padawan, a Trandoshan female, to the rank of Jedi Knight in 32 BBY. Three years later, he took another Padawan, a Human male named Selusda Kraen, as his apprentice. Selu showed little promise in many of the disciplines sought after by Jedi, with a mediocre aptitude for lightsaber combat and no special talents. Still, Koon saw promise in his apprentice and taught him in the ways of the Force, giving him valuable lessons in a wide variety of areas. Koon soon realized that Se

  • Plo Koon was one of the pillars of the Jedi Order during the final days of the Old Republic. Koon soon realized that Selu had potential in some of the more arcane Force powers related to altering the environment-powers similar to his own. He passed on those techniques, teaching Selu to use telekinesis and the controversial Electric Judgment. His Padawan also learned Force camouflage on his own, impressing Koon with his knowledge of the esoteric and difficult technique. Shortly before the Clone Wars, Koon was paired up with Jedi Master Ylenic It'kla on an investigative mission to Ando. Along with It'kla, both of their Padawans accompanied them as well, though the two Masters were deliberately vague about what preparations they should make for the mission in order to test their Padawans. On Ando, the four Jedi investigated a weapons smuggler led by Ardo Romierr, who was funneling arms to enemies of the Republic. Plo Koon and It'kla worked with the local Republic authorities on Ando to gather information. The second day after they arrived, they set out on a ship across Ando's oceans to explore Jaqard Strait, which was rumored to contain the smugglers' hideout. Their seagoing vessel was attacked by Romierr's vessel. Before the two Jedi could board it, their own ship was sabotaged and exploded, but their Padawans, who had been following clues on the wharfs, came to their rescue. It'kla's Padawan Skip fished both of them out of the nets that had been tossed in after the explosion. Selu bought time for the rescue by boarding the pirate ship, though he was captured and tortured for information. Plo Koon came to his Padawan's rescue, and the four Jedi, along with the Republic aide Daklan Burbage returned to Quantill City with the smugglers in tow, but no sign of Romierr. The Padawans had determined that the Republic's ambassador to Ando had been behind the sabotage, but when Plo Koon attempted to confront him, the ambassador committed suicide. The resulting scandal led to significant anti-Republic sentiment and unrest on Ando With the weapons rings' operatives mostly in custody, the four Jedi returned to Coruscant despite having not caught Romierr. En route, they received a message from Daklan Burbage, who turned out to be Romierr. He congratulated them on their success, but gloated that destabilizing Ando had been exactly what his employers wanted. Plo Koon took Selu with him on some of his missions during the Clone Wars, including the Battle of Rendili and the Battle of Boz Pity. Shortly after the latter engagement, Koon informed the council that Selu was ready to take the trials and become a Jedi Knight. Once again, Selu performed admirably and Koon congratulated his former apprentice on his elevation to Jedi Knight. The two would fly together again during the Battle of Coruscant, but Selu’s injuries meant that Plo Koon headed to Cato Neimoidia alone on a mission, hoping his former apprentice would join him later. Koon missed having the studious Human around, in spite of his own carefully cultivated Jedi detachment. Unfortunately for the Jedi Master, he was betrayed and executed by the clone troopers he commanded during a mission over Cato Neimoidia, as part of a greater purge by the Sith in preparation for their taking over the galaxy. His legacy lived on in the form of his last apprentice, who survived the purge and went on to found a refuge for not only Jedi, but Force exiles of many varieties.
