The French Presidential election of 1798 was the second election, for president and also the second won by Maximilien Robespierre. Robespierre had utilized his power a President to rig the election for the last National Assembly, which would be electing the president now, despite its own expiration. The National assembly had been purged of all non-Jacobins, and unanimously re-elected the enormously hated Robespierre.
