  • Making its first appearance in the D1 Grand Prix drift competition in 2003, this HKS car was the company's second Silvia transformed into a "drift" car. The experience gained from HKS's first effort, a car that had competed for a year and a half, was incorporated into this purpose-built machine. Body stiffness was drastically improved by adding spot welds and installing a custom-built roll cage. Because the car was lowered significantly, the wheel wells were expanded to accommodate the stroke for the suspension. The radiator core supports were also modified to allow the intercooler and radiator to be positioned much further back than normal. While this was done to place heavy components closer to the center of the car, it had the additional benefit of reducing damage in the case of a collision. The fuel tank was shrunk, and moved to the rear of the trunk compartment. This helped the car approach an ideal 50/50 front/rear weight distribution. The base engine was stroked to 2.2 liters, while different turbochargers were installed depending on the race venue. In its most powerful settings, power was rated at more than 443 HP. In addition to its prowess as a drift car, the car proved to be an exceptionable racer, too, capable of clicking off super fast lap times on a variety of race circuits.
