The Anti-Personnel Assault Droid, commonly known as the APAD, was a model of battle droid made specifically for melee combat, an area in which the APAD was known to excel at. It was designed by the Tyria-Harans around 4100 BBY on the planet of C'byr 2. Roughly 150 years later Darth Revan altered the designs of the APAD to turn the battle droid series into powerful Jedi Hunters, adding in a network of powerful ranged weapons such as blasters, portable missile systems, and chaingun slugthrowers. Additionally, the droids were reinforced and reprogrammed for advanced lightsaber combat and seemingly improved through the use of either Rakata technology or mechu-deru.
