The 1954 Mid-South 250 was a Grand National (now Sprint Cup) event held at Memphis-Arkansas Speedway on October 10, 1954. Buck Baker had been following Lee Petty much of the race, but when Petty developed axle problems, Baker struck. He led just seventeen laps in route to a five-lap victory on Dick Rathmann.
