An Entity of Type : owl:Thing, within Data Space : dbkwik.org associated with source dataset(s)

Z-Moves (Japanese: Zワザ Z-Move) are unique and powerful moves accessible through the bond between Trainer and their Pokémon. They appear in Generation ζ and Pokémon ANT. It is the result of the two's bond reaching its maximum and their desire for the battle's outcome being the same. They are powered-up versions of regular moves, and there is a single Z-Move for each type. More exclusive Z-Moves exist, but they require exclusive Z-Crystals, which can be produced in unique ways and are touched more upon in the following paragraph.

  • Z-Moves (Japanese: Zワザ Z-Move) are unique and powerful moves accessible through the bond between Trainer and their Pokémon. They appear in Generation ζ and Pokémon ANT. It is the result of the two's bond reaching its maximum and their desire for the battle's outcome being the same. Within the Xeno region, they are taught and introduced as a precursor to Mega Evolution. This is due to the fact that they both draw from the same two power sources: the bond between a Trainer and his or her Pokémon, as well as a mysterious form of energy hypothesized to emerge from or be related to the Ultra Wormhole. It is considered the most baseline level of the so-called bond ritual (Japanese: 絆儀式 Bond Ritual), a series of steps needed to bring one's connection to their Pokémon to the level at which Aura Synchronization may be achieved. As the first step, Z-Moves can be used with any Pokémon, so long as they have a decently strong connection with their Trainer. Thus, whole teams may be capable of using Z-Moves. Multiple Z-Moves can be used per battle, at less cost than simultaneous Mega Evolutions, though still taxing enough that one will be tired out if these are overused. Newcomers are recommend to only stick with one-per battle, while more experienced Trainers still limit themselves to one-per Pokémon in a single fight. They are powered-up versions of regular moves, and there is a single Z-Move for each type. More exclusive Z-Moves exist, but they require exclusive Z-Crystals, which can be produced in unique ways and are touched more upon in the following paragraph. Z-Moves are performed through the use of special stones known as Z-Crystals (Japanese: Zクリスタル Z-Crystal). Similar to Mega Stones, it is a held item on a Pokémon's person that is used to-power up their regular moves into Z-Moves. A Pokémon can only use the Z-Move of a certain type if they both know a move of that type and have the Z-Crystal associated with that type. As a counterpart to Key Stones, a Trainer must wield a Z-Ring (Japanese: Zリング Z-Ring) that gathers the necessary energy for the performance of a Z-Move. Z-Rings may be upgraded into a Mega armament for the use of both Z-Moves and Mega Evolutions, carrying the two types of stones. While ordinary Z-Crystals can be found and harvested from the natural environment (especially the area around and encompassing the Oratada Mountains, and several other areas throughout the region), unique crystals can be found among Trainers. These are the result of constant use of a certain Z-Crystal between a certain Trainer and a single Pokémon. The sharing of experiences under a united will and strength leads to the crystal changing, shifting to reflect them. As the stone changes, so does the Z-Move tied to it, creating something unique to the duo. Along with Mega Evolution, Z-Moves can be taught by the citizens of a certain village.
