Bernd Eichinger was a German film producer attached to Constantin Film. As one of the producers of The Neverending Story (1984), Eichinger was partly responsible for Capcom's decision to grant the Resident Evil film rights to Constantin in late 1996, the film having a large Japanese following. Eichinger produced Resident Evil (2002); Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004); Resident Evil: Extinction (2007) and Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010). He died of a heart attack in 2011.

Due to blockbuster movies such as Der bewegte Mann (1994), Der Untergang (2004) and Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006), he is considered Germany's most successful producer.
