The Portable Ops version of the "Metal Gear Solid Main Theme" is absent from this release perhaps due to the controversy surrounding the theme. Originally, in the 2006 E3 trailer for Portable Ops the "Main Theme" motif was a part of the track "Show Time." The soundtrack was composed mainly by Norihiko Hibino, who assisted with the Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty Original Soundtrack and composed the theme for Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, entitled "Snake Eater." Hibino was assisted by Nobuko Toda who also helped with the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Original Soundtrack. Other composers who contributed to the soundtrack were Akihiro Honda, Kazuma Jinnouchi, Takahiro Izutani, and Yoshitaka Suzukl. The theme for Portable Ops, "Calling to the Night", was sung by Natasha Farrow. An earlier version of the song "Sad Man's Theme" appeared on the Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty Original Soundtrack but was called "Peter's Theme." An earlier version of the song "Evasion" appeared on the also appeared in the Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty Original Soundtrack but was called "Countdown to Disaster."
