She was a member of the London County Council representing Hampstead from 1955 until the council's abolition in 1965. In 1967 she returned to local government when she was elected as a member of the successor Greater London Council to represent Camden (having failed at the previous election in 1964). She lost her seat at the 1970 council elections, but was subsequently made an alderman, serving until the office was abolished in 1977.
