Darth Cantus, formerly known as Cantus Maves was a Human male Dark Lord of the Sith and former Jedi apprentice who founded the Dark Society of the Sith. He was born to a single mother on the forest moon of Endor in 300 ABY. He was found by Jedi Master Kro Akur and brought to the Jedi temple. Jedi Master Ross Skywalker took him as his apprentice. Jedi Grandmaster Tsho Raku-Ivan sensed the dark side in Cantus and warned Ross Skywalker not to let him know too much about the Sith, but Cantus still found out about the Sith, so Cantus left the order and went to Korriban and found the holocron of Darth Bane. He then created the Dark Society of the Sith which followed Bane's Rule of Two.

He formed an army of Sith troopers and orchestrated an eleven year war against the Galactic Alliance and Jedi Order that would be known as the Cantus War. The Sith won the war and the Galactic Alliance collapsed and he formed a new galactic government, the Shadow Empire, which he was the emperor of. He also ordered the extermination of the Jedi, an event that would be known as the Fourth Jedi Purge. Some time before 417 ABY he died and Darth Spur became emperor.
