Mwangati Ngumo was the former Secretary-General of the United Nations at the time of the Rapture. He chose to step down and allow Nicolae Carpathia to take over as the new Secretary-General in the hopes that he would be given access to the synthetic fertilizer formula for his home country Botswana and possibly a role as the subpotentate of the United African States. His hopes were dashed, though, as Carpathia never came through on giving him the formula or the subpotentate position, making Ngumo a hated man in his own country. The subpotentate role was given to his bitter rival Rehoboth. Both Ngumo and Rehoboth were later killed around the time of the sixth Trumpet Judgment in "Assassins" during an assassination attempt on Carpathia that was discovered and foiled.
