On Earth, in the 23rd century, the population has grown out-of-control and overcrowding is a massive problem. Jed Orville sees an advert on TV offering free tickets to a new paradise planet where there is plenty of room for everyone. He heads straight for the Galactic Resettlement Bureau. On the way he passes a couple of friends who said they got tickets by threatening the official. Jed pushes his way to the front of the queue. At the front, a rich man is bribing the official to give him a ticket. Jed grabs the official by the scruff of the neck to get his ticket, and a woman complains that all the tickets have gone to rich men or hoods. A few weeks later they're all on the shuttle craft to the new planet, but after they're beamed down to the surface, they realise they've been tricked. Ins

Jed grabs the official by the scruff of the neck to get his ticket, and a woman complains that all the tickets have gone to rich men or hoods. A few weeks later they're all on the shuttle craft to the new planet, but after they're beamed down to the surface, they realise they've been tricked. Instead of a paradise world, it's a cold, barren planet. The bureau wanted the sort of people who were prepared to lie and cheat to get there, as they thought they were the best people to colonise this sort of world. .
