The Cygnus Air Militia was the aerial arm of the colony of Cygnus' Colonial Militia. The Air Militia was born out of necessity in the immediate aftermath of the outbreak of the Human-Covenant War to take over some roles once filled by the planet's UNSC Air Force garrison. Throughout the Human-Covenant War, the Air Militia was an endeavor of mixed success. The arm aided in helping provide internal security for the colony, as well as aiding the colony's emergency services after terror attacks or natural disasters.

  • The Cygnus Air Militia was the aerial arm of the colony of Cygnus' Colonial Militia. The Air Militia was born out of necessity in the immediate aftermath of the outbreak of the Human-Covenant War to take over some roles once filled by the planet's UNSC Air Force garrison. Throughout the Human-Covenant War, the Air Militia was an endeavor of mixed success. The arm aided in helping provide internal security for the colony, as well as aiding the colony's emergency services after terror attacks or natural disasters. However, the Air Militia had its fair share of Insurrectionist sympathizers, with the organization's equipment found being used by the Colonial Defense Forces and even the United Rebel Front, causing a massive scandal in 2534, after which very strict security measures were placed on the Air Militia. As a result, the organization operated relatively without incident until 2560, after some of its units partook in the Battle of Grasok Run, which ended with the UNSC reneging on its alliance with the Insurrectionists against the New Colonial Alliance. While most units in the major population centers of Cygnus stayed loyal to the UNSC, the incident created splits in the frontier units, with several units being 'disbanded', only to reappear later on the side of the Insurrectionists. Eventually, in 2567, after it became evident the Air Militia was no longer needed, the units that remained in UNSC service were disbanded.
