About: Wood Mining Cell   Sponge Permalink

An Entity of Type : owl:Thing, within Data Space : dbkwik.org associated with source dataset(s)

You will need the Wood Mining Cell (or better) to pull Stone, Mud, Fossils as well as some items and building-blocks that you have placed yourself. For even harder rocks you will need Stone Mining Cells or better ones. (Already crafted) Wood Mining Cells can be found in Stone Treasure Chests on the Fossil layer in shallow caves sometimes, or can be obtained from Keepas, or can be crafted yourself in your Crafting Menu (default key "Q") or at any old Crafting Table (that you might still find in older worlds created before R22 on September 16th 2015).

The crafting-recipe for Wood Mining Cell is one of the starting recipes already known/unlocked at the beginning of the game. To craft 1 Wood Mining Cell, you will need (as of R27 in January 2016): * 4 blocks of any kind of natural Wood or Log (the small golden arrows indicate that you can browse through alternative materials) * 1 Mushroom, either Red Mushroom, Brown Mushroom or Glowing Mushroom (again the small golden arrows indicate that you can browse through alternative materials) * 1x Vines, taken from Cragwood-trees in the Forest or Woodlands, Wildwood-trees in the Jungle or else from the Loot Bags from several kinds of Leafies, respectively as their pet-harvest Whenever you use the Wood Mining Cell to pull/mine/harvest materials, it will lose durability, until it falls apart. Mind that by pulling Dirt, Grass-blocks of any kind and vegetative materials (which you could also harvest without any Power Cells, like Wood, red/brown mushrooms, Vines, etc.) when having this Power Cell equipped, your Wood Mining Cell will also lose durability; however it will lose more of it's durability by pulling Stone, Fossils, Mud and equally hard materials/rocks. To be precisely: one Wood Mining Cell can pull 280 blocks of Stone until it has worn out completely, or 560 blocks of Wood (as of R24 in in November 2015). You cannot pull any harder rocks than Stone with Wood Mining Cells - like Bedrock, Limestone or Magnetite on the Fossil Layer, nor caramel Canyonstone, red Ruddy Canyonstone, maroon Dark Canyonstone, Peakstone nor any building-blocks crafted from such hard rocks. For that you will need better Power Cells, made from materials that your Wood Mining Cell can help you harvest. By crafting or taking a Wood Mining Cell for the first time, you will unlock the recipe for the better Stone Mining Cells (that can mine/harvest/pull harder materials/rocks, as can be found on the Fossil layer underground) and for (basic) Extractors that you will need to extract Ores from Nodes, starting with Coal and Obsidian. Please note that some materials in crafting-recipes, especially those used for starting-recipes, do have alternatives. This is indicated by small golden arrows on the icons of these "ingredients", like Wood for these Wood Mining Cells. If you want to use a different kind of material (Wood) than the automatically suggested blocks (usually the kind of material with the highest amount in your current inventory), then after selecting the crafting recipe in the crafting menu, just click on the icon/s of the materials (with the small golden arrows) to browse through all the optional materials and choose your favorite/s.
