The 1951 Motor City 250 was a Grand National (now Sprint Cup) event held at Michigan State Fairgrounds on August 12, 1951. Tommy Thompson took the lead with a handful of laps remaining and pulled away to his only career victory, holding off Joe Eubanks by thirty-seven seconds.
