Vollistan healers have become aware of this condition existing in some beings off-world, due to early manifestation and records of some off-world Vollistans needing to make a trip home. There's much religious ado about it, but really, it's probably just a quirk introduced by confined breeding during the Nall forced mating of Interrogators, or from a family subsisting on tainted fungi then spreading out, or -something-. All told, though, it's a serious condition, but one easily treated by someone who is blood tested by a doctor skilled in Vollistan medicine, or someone who talks to any Vollistan with a knowledge of their lore or healing practices.

  • Vollistan healers have become aware of this condition existing in some beings off-world, due to early manifestation and records of some off-world Vollistans needing to make a trip home. The condition in question can manifest in far more minor form in those Vollistans who just don't eat healthy, or continually eat things their body is not used to metabolizing. In these instances, likely the early effects will onset only. It should be said that Vitamin R is just a catchall term for various chemicals found in many flora, but not usually in fauna, and more common in Vollistan food than elsewhere. It is not a single vitamin, and is far more complex. Necessary metabolic processes, including those relating, in some degrees, to thought, require a regular maintenance of one's health, more for Vollistans than they do for Humans. Vollistans, whose bodies are also generally less hardy than those of many other races, must maintain a relatively healthy diet. However, they know this, and have trouble digesting unhealthy food anyway, so it's typically not an issue. Also of note is the fact that the insanities and auditory slash visual hallucinations imposed can be seen as a consequence of the Vollistan's slowly degenerating ability to tune out crowd think and the unintentional transmitted thoughts of those around them. In this sense, the mental impacts of the deficiency are a weakening of mental shields, and the "hallucinations", are really very vivid experiencing of the mental images or voices of people they encounter, without their own desire to experience same.
