Beaudoin played junior hockey with the Montreal North Beavers, Laval Saints, and the Trois Rivieres Ducs and got a reputation as a tough player. The Philadelphia Flyers chose him 103rd overall in the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft. He turned pro with the Roanoke Valley Rebels in 1972-73 and then joined the Vancouver Blazers of the World Hockey Association. He spent the next five years in the WHA, playing in 332 games and scoring 20 goals and 103 assists. He had 519 penalty minutes.
