| - We win by addition. I'm cooperative with Democrats, Republicans and those who are neither a Democrat nor Republican. In sports, we like to compete. I like to compete too. In doing so, we get to meet and interact with all types of people and ideas. In respectful competition, relationships grow, communities thrive, and the best solutions are able to get crafted. The promise of democracy is peace. To be a peacemaker takes plenty of hard work in outreach, communication, engagement and understanding. This journey is worth it because the alternative is ignorance, fighting and war. I want to be counted among those who are known to work for peace and justice in one world, with respect and tolerance.

When you are free, you must play well with others. With freedom comes an equal measure of responsibility. The marketplace of ideas and the free exchange of comment makes a central principle. I have a publishing background. The free press and journalistic responsibilities are vital for our nation and our city. Our society and culture has been able to thrive because of these big concepts of freedom. I give thanks to the Pilgrims who migrated to North America searching for religious freedom. More thanks goes to the Founding Fathers, such as Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson, for the masterful work in establishing the United States based upon freedoms. I love the freedom of the internet. Its time has come because the net has many keys for grassroots participation among citizens. I respect free markets. I'd not want state decisions of certain solutions over others so as to disrupt markets. Hence, I hate TIFs, eminent domain, and invasions that hurt freedoms. As a core principle, I say, "Live and let live, yet we are all connected." People have died for the sake of freedom. Others die in the present in the future in efforts both to protect and achieve freedom. Being free matters greatly to me. Perhaps more than anything else. And, this is one reason I run for public office and do so as a Libertarian. For freedom to work, we need a framework. We have them in the constitutions and other areas such as the city charter and county charters. Other core principles fit among the concepts of democracy, community and justice. An Independent, yet striving for thoughtful teamwork for the whole community's benefit.
