Krinomak is a titan planet of considerable size with a thin atmosphere. Its surface is littered with basins of liquid hydrocarbons, mainly ethane and methane. The biggest of these basins, which spans a lenght of over 6000 km, can be found near the equator. Its size is rivalled by a gigantic impact crater filled with methane located on the opposite side of the planet. Four other craters are found across the surface, their diameter ranging from 700 km to 3000 km. These planetary scars are remnants of the dramatic ancient past of this celestial body. Another consequence of these cataclysmic events was the formation of Krinomak's atmosphere. It is composed mainly of nitrogen with barely measurable traces of argon and carbon monoxide. This atmosphere was created when ammonia deposits in the cru

abstract
  • Krinomak is a titan planet of considerable size with a thin atmosphere. This atmosphere was created when ammonia deposits in the crust evaporated because of the enormous heat generated by the impacts. Krinomak's polar regions are covered by thick caps of frozen methane, the temperatures here range from -220 °C to -250°. In the intermediate zone between Krinomak's ice caps and the equatorial temperate zone huge plateaus are covered by a mixture of frozen methane, nitrogen and complex organic compounds that can be immediately recognized from orbit as they have an intense turquoise color. The Vasti, a civilization residing on the terran planet Vanikra which is located in the same star system, have whorshipped Krinomak for centuries as one of their deities. In their pantheon Krinomak is the son of Karman and Arvat - the two gas giants that occupy the 8th and the 10th position in this star system.
