Once declared, akaan'gaan denoted an individual or group's intent to seek open conflict wherever they may find it. During the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and Sith Empire, the Mandalorian warrior Mavrix Varad led his clan to break away from the Empire with whom the Mandalorian people had been aligned. Declaring akaan'gaan, Clan Varad stole a Republic Valor-class cruiser known as the Allusis, and assaulted a number of Republic and Imperial targets before they were finally neutralized in orbit over Fondor.
