- Dave Lanphear was the letterer of all four issues of Star Wars: General Grievous mini-series of comics.
- In the early 1990s, he freelanced as a letterer and occasional inker for several companies before joining the Comicraft studio in 1994. He worked his way up to the upper echelons of the company. In 1999, he left Comicraft to create the Lettering Department at CrossGen Entertainment. He became the art and design director, contributing to book designs, page designs, letter columns, and was heavily involved in the development of comics on the web. In 2004, CGE declared bankruptcy; Lanphear collaborated in the creation of the Artmonkeys studio near Tampa Bay, Florida, which he also manages.
