  • Aunt Clarissa's Serf Hut was a novel written before the Detinan Civil War by an ethnic Detinan woman from the southern part of the kingdom. The novel was written as propaganda against the continued practice of serfdom in the kingdom. It vilified northern Detinans who practiced serfdom and idealized their blond bondsmen. Rollant, a blond who had lived his early life as a serf in Palmetto Province before fleeing to New Eborac City, had read the book. His assessment of it, which he shared with his ethnic Detinan friends, was that no blond was as pure of heart as the book suggested, but that the villainy of their overlords was portrayed accurately.
