The Specter-class heavy Corvette was a Corvette put into production just before the New Class project began. The Corvettes were being built under the intention of delevery to the Empire. However plans had been made for the Rebel Alliance to "Raid" the Mikaru Founderies at Eshan. However, the battle of Endor broke the Empires back and the Mikaru Corporation along with the Government of Eshan broke away from the Empire and used their shipyards and Resources to form a defensive fleet around the planet and system. A few months after the Battle the Specter-class joined the Ranks of the Mikaru Research Fleet and Production began on ships for the New Republic.
