Hagar Township was located east of Sudbury and centred on the community of Markstay. The Hagar Township Fire Department was created in 1963. In 1999, municipal restructuring saw Hagar Township become part of the Municipality of Markstay-Warren, and the fire team part of the Markstay-Warren Fire Department.
