When the Sovereign Galactic Empire reclaimed Iloh during their war with the New Republic, it was obvious to many Ilohians that the neutral stance they'd been thankful for during the Rebellion would not continue. The once beautiful home that he'd seen flourish as a child, had become a garrison world drained of it's valuable resources. Seeing the unrest and devastation left in the wake of the Imperial's arrival, Gaen and his brother, Fias, joined the Iloh resistance group, fighting against local Imperial forces before fleeing with their parents off world to New Republic territory.Background
