Princess Saera was one of the thirteen children born to King Jaehaerys I Targaryen and his sister wife Queen Alysanne Targaryen. Her parents had given her to the Faith, but Saera's wishes were elsewhere. She fled the motherhouse when she was a novice, and fled beyond the Narrow Sea. She stayed inLys for a while, before going to Old Volantis, where she eventually became the owner of a famous pleasure house. On his deathbed, King Jaehaerys I Targaryen mistakes Lady Alicent Hightower for one of his daughters. Near the end, he grew convinced that Alicent was Saera, returned from across the sea.
