Early Strogg nailguns behaved more like a shotgun, as they fired a cluster of sharp metal spikes or "nails" simultaneously. Although the weapon was inaccurate at range, it could do considerable damage to a human at close-quarters combat distances, making it a suitable weapon for fighting indoors.
