By the treaty of Versailles, the Reichswehr is limited to a 100,000 soldiers, can not have a general staff and is forbidden to acquire tanks, heavy artillery and airplanes. The Reichswehr is divided into the the Reichsheer (army) and the Reichsmarine (navy).
