An ejection seat is a small, one-man starfighter version of an escape pod. Unlike an escape pod, however, the ejection seat is not enclosed, although it does have a life support unit. TIE fighter pilots have ejection seats, but the pilots would generally rather die than face the wrath of their commanders when they are retrieved, if they are retrieved at all.
