The predecessor of the Image Club d'Epinal was founded in December 1906 and was named Sports d’hiver Spinaliens (SHS). Today's Image Club d'Epinal was re-founded in 1997. The new club initially played in the lower-level leagues, but reached the top-level Ligue Magnus for the 2003-04 season. In 2007, Epinal finished as runners-up in the Coupe de France, falling 4-1 to the Ducs d'Angers in the final.
