The Renner-class corvettes were a type of starship on active duty in Starfleet during at least the last quarter of the 23rd century. Along with the Hunt-class escort destroyers, the Renner class was designed as a new class to supplement existing classes of starships on border and spacelane patrol duty. Renners were atypical insofar as they have a wedge-shaped (as opposed to ovular) primary hull. The standard crew complement was 180. The initial block of 21 ships were commissioned starting in 2287.
