Lieutenant Edmund Blackadder, VC, (fl. 1838-1879) was one of many members of the Blackadder family who left England to seek their fortune in other areas of the British Empire. A member of the 21st/34th Lancers, he perished at the Battle of Rorke's Drift in 1879 while trying to negotiate a surrender. His last words were recorded as "Oh, just keep the bloody place then!" He was ennobled to the Viscount Blackadder in 1860. This article is a stub. You can help the My English Wiki by [ expanding it].
