The Large Cent was a 1 cent coin used from 1793 until 1857. They were not made in 1815 due to the shortage of copper that year. It was then replaced with the Flying Eagle Cent, which is the modern size of the penny. There were several designs made of the large cent. They were made mostly of copper.
