The polaron matrix was a component of the prototype cloaking device mounted on the Kraylor Medical Transport 136, later dubbed "Nightingale". During an Annari attack in 2377, the Kraylor scientist Loken repaired the cloak by shutting down the warp core and bypassing the driver coil, to shunt power directly to the polaron matrix.
