A member of the military stationed in India, Lieutenant Broadwattle is sent to welcome Rue to the country. At the time of Prudence, he has been stationed in India for three years. Broadwattle is Lord Akeldama's redundancy agent in India, and becomes Rue's contact when her original contact, Mrs. Featherstonehaugh, is presumably kidnapped by natives.
