A microphone (also referred to as a mic or mike), is an electronic device that converts sound into an electrical signal. A microphone comes in two configurations: wired and wireless. Wired mics use coaxial cables for better processing of the signal and increased clarity in sound. Wireless microphones generally are more expensive than wired mics.
