Kakita Shizuka was a courtier of the Crane Clan who in 1171 became engaged to Imperial Advisor, the ronin Susumu, during Winter Court at Kyuden Gotei. Her husband was eventually revealed as a follower of Daigotsu and member of the so-called Spider Clan. She bore a daughter, Susumu Kuroko, who shared her Crane features.
