A Mark 9 Servitor was a type of robot. One such Servitor had the Vortex Code placed in its data core and sent to Earth in a Starfire cruiser to keep the Code safe from hostile forces. En route, Stellion Core pirates forced the cruiser to crash in the Gorlon asteroid field, killing the crew and damaging the Servitor, who realised it only had twenty-seven minutes before it ceased functionality. It was rescued by the Tenth Doctor and taken to the TARDIS, where it explained its mission to him. The Doctor followed the coordinates in the Code to Chrone, where he repaired the damage done to the Servitor and left it there when he departed. (COMIC: The Vortex Code)
