The teams from the Southern Alberta Junior League combined with the Moose Jaw Canucks and the Regina Pats from Saskatchewan to form the Western Canada Junior League. Calgary & Lethbridge played a playoff series which was both the Western League's semi final and the Alberta provincial semi final. After Lethbridge lost to Calgary it played Drumheller Valley in a qualifying series. Had Drumheller won, it would have gone on to play Calgary in the provincial playoffs. Complicated? Contemporary newspaper reporters thought so!
